Drivers rights
Taxi drivers also have rights, set out in the law.
A taxi driver can refuse to carry you if
- You have failed to pay for a fare previously.
- The driver feels threatened by you.
- You appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- You are in a filthy condition.
- You are consuming food or drink.
- You are noisy, violent or disturbing the peace.
- You do not have enough money to meet the cost of the journey. The driver has the right to ask for payment in advance.
- The number of passengers who want to be carried exceeds the number in the vehicle loading certificate.
